How to fly the US Flag for civilians

As we approach the 4th of July, though it appropriate to bring up the subject again.   So, have a happy 4th of July and fly your flag with dignity.

Formerly, a Protocol worker, it mystifies me when I drive by a house with a flag displayed improperly.  And more and more of late, to see digital images,  decorations or images of a house, room, or display in which the flag is often incorrect.  I just came across an image tonight and was about to pin on pinterest, but a picture on the same page had the flag displayed with the union on the right, not so cool.

For civilians:

"When displaying the flag against a wall, vertically or horizontally, the flag's union (stars) should be at the top, to the flag's own right, and to the observer's left."  Flag Etiquette can be found here.

You can find rules here on flying the flag. from
4 U.S.C.
United States Code, 2011 Edition
Title 4 - FLAG AND SEAL, SEAT OF GOVERNMENT, AND THE STATES
From the U.S. Government Printing Office, www.gpo.gov
There might be an updated code now, not sure, but the basic fundamentals remain the same.

Did you know, the American Flag has specific color codes issued by the US?
For residential purposes, if you are purchasing the US flag, American Flag, if made in the U.S.A., (hopefully~yes) it should have these designated colors:  Old Glory Red and Old Glory Blue.  US Embassies use Pantone approximated colors.

America, In God We Trust

The last few verses of "The Star Spangled Banner"
on almost never hears:

And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I was watching a show on INSP and there was a short clip about this Faith Monument in Massachussetts.  Having lived in this state and never heard of this, I was curious.

Faith points toward heaven and underneath are Freedom, Morality, Law and Education, principles upon which the Pilgrims founded the Commonwealth.  (see wikipedia article)

God Bless the Usa Proud to be an American

In this American Patriotic Song blog, no doubt have to include this contemporary song, written in 1984 by
Lee Greenwood.
If this doesn't give you goosebumps, nothing will.  As we approach the Fourth of the July in the United States, we can appreciate and remember our freedom to enjoy those cookouts and backyard barbecues.
The map of the United States is not colored with red and blue states, as this is not a political map, but rather a pictorial of the United States for patriotic purposes, that we are in fact united!
